The future, weather permitting
This is the one piece in the collection that actually means what the title says. Where the transformer and the old H-frame are there to show how little changes, the turbine is the change: a kind of generation BEPCO's founders, with their coal and their steam, could not have imagined, planted miles offshore where the wind is steadier than anything on land. The Company's records approach it with the wary optimism of an institution learning a new trade late in life, noting the output, the weather, and the boats required to reach it. Its Instruction Booklet is the longest in the collection and, tellingly, the only one that comes with a tide table.
